Vermont right-hander Kee Bao made an effective start against the Sacramento Redlegs at Sacramento Sanitation Station, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Bao, the winner, moves to 1-3. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Billy Grange got credit for the save for Vermont. It was his 2nd of the year.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when shortstop Álex Chávez, who leads the SAAA in triples with 3, got hit by a pitch. The Lake Monsters went on to win.
"I was a little disappointed," said Sacramento manager Rich Hunter. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Vermont is now 14-10.
