Campoverde Leads Dodos to Win
|
The Hialeah Dodos downed the Alloway Halberds, 13-8, at Ballpark of Alloway. The Dodos were led by Gabrio Campoverde, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Dave Stephenson picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-1. He struck out 1 in 5.2 innings. The Dodos are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 9th win in 20 games.
Hialeah needed the clutch hitting of Leon Green to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Dodos on top, 8-1. For the game, Green had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Green told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
