Lake Monsters Squelch Rocks Offense in Shutout Win
|
Vermont right-hander Domingo Ramírez was sensational in shutting out the Plymouth Rocks, 3-0. Ramírez, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. Picking up the save was Billy Threepwood, his 1st.
Vermont used the bat of Fernando Sandoval to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lake Monsters ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Sandoval.
The Lake Monsters keep rolling, raising their record to 10-6.
