Starks Clip Redlegs in Tight Contest
|
Syracuse pitcher Brian Walker did his part in helping his team beat the Sacramento Redlegs, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Walker, now 1-1. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Garrett Harrington closed the door for Syracuse, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of António Boccanegra to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Starks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We did a lot of things right," said Boccanegra.
With the win, Syracuse boosts its record to 7-9.
