The Texas Bronze Sox took Calgary pitcher Greg Fontenot's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Lynx Stadium. The final score had Texas getting past the Lynx, 2-1. Fontenot went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 5. Texas reliever Kazuchika Okada picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ricardo Covarrubias suffered the loss. Texas's record now stands at 47-54, placing them 7th in the Premier AAA.

Texas used the timely hitting of Santiago Miranda to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bronze Sox ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Miranda.
