A 3-RBI performance from designated hitter António Boccanegra led the Syracuse Starks to a 10-2 win over the Vermont Lake Monsters. Syracuse starter Dave McAlear was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The loss drops Vermont to 4-2.

The Starks grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two out, Enrique Rocha hit a 2-run home run off Cheung Wuying, putting Syracuse in front, 5-2. For Rocha, it was his 2nd home run of the season.

"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Boccanegra told the Syracuse Herald.
