The inspired effort of Memphis second baseman Diego Martínez was not enough to prevent a 6-4 loss to the Sacramento Redlegs. Martínez was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alejandro Guerra earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 4 earned runs on 10 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. With the win, Sacramento improves its record to 3-3.
Early in the game, designated hitter Joe Clark had a solo home run for Sacramento. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Redlegs on top, 2-1.
Clark told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
