Texas pitcher Kevin Maughan gave the Belugas all they could handle, but in the end, Brinkley left Belugas Ballpark with a 3-1 win. Maughan allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings. Brinkley reliever Edo Culley picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Kevin Maughan shouldered the loss. Rémi Ribeiro, credited with the save, is now 3 for 6 in save opportunities.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, designated hitter Lawrence Stokes came through big-time for the Belugas. With Brinkley trailing 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
