The Bakersfield Nobles scored a 2-1 win versus the Bloomington Longnecks at Lookouts Ballpark. Bakersfield pitcher Nicky Bogdan nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Bakersfield reliever Jelexiz Verano was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Gilberto Chávez took the loss for Bloomington. The Longnecks, now 35-45, have lost 5 straight.
John Ennis made it 2-1, Bakersfield, in the top of the 11th when he hit a sacrifice fly. It was a big at-bat in the Nobles win.
Afterward, Nobles manager Zach King was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
