Golden Cranes Turn Back Memphis, 5-3
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Memphis Redbirds were eager to watch Todd Denton square off against Cipriano Pinto of the visiting Santa Barbara Golden Cranes. In the end, the Golden Cranes won the game, 5-3, with Cipriano Pinto earning player of the game honors. Tony Solíz got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Chan-ho Shinn had a big 2-run home run for the Golden Cranes in the top of the fifth inning. With Santa Barbara leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from George Kane and stroked the home run to center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Golden Cranes ahead, 4-0.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Pinto.
