For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
Port Royal pitcher Christian Clayton did his part in helping his team beat the Bloomington Longnecks, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The 'W' lifts Port Royal's record to 37-40.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Steve Bock came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Bloomington pitcher Brian Joo, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Port Royal on top, 4-3.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Bloomington skipper Coy Knight, "and it cost us."
