Longnecks Edge Past Tritons, 2-1
|
Bloomington Longnecks starter Gerald Keller was in fine form against the Jersey City Tritons at Lookouts Ballpark, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Bloomington reliever Ron Rouse picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Paul Vereen took the loss. Bloomington is now 35-40.
Jesús Corona had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the eighth. The Bloomington designated hitter came through with a run-scoring single to put Bloomington in front, 2-1.
Afterward, Longnecks manager Coy Knight was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
