The Bloomington Longnecks faced a tough opponent in Calgary pitcher Hong-bin Hua, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Lynx Stadium by a final score of 5-2. Hua went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Bloomington reliever Vicente Durango picked up the win to move to 3-1. Bill Edmonds suffered the loss. Ron Mingo earned the save for Bloomington, his 5th.
Bloomington used the timely hitting of Manny Diéguez to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Longnecks ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Bloomington manager Coy Knight.
Bloomington has now won 3 in a row.
