Virginia Beach right-hander Kenneth Ferrell made an effective start against the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats at Virginia Beach Grounds, leading his team to a 3-2 win. The Whales saw their win-loss record go to 23-10. At the same time, the Love Boats fell to 18-15.

Dave Thomas took Alan Halsall deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Whales on top, 2-0. In all, Thomas had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.

"We found a way to get it done," Thomas said.
