Jersey City played host to Port Royal at the friendly confines of Jersey City Grounds.
Jersey City used a superb performance from starting pitcher Javier Ariza to down the Port Royal Disaster, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Ariza, now 4-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. Dou-guan Shao finished the game for Jersey City and earned his 1st save.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Dou-guan Shao didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Port Royal trailing 3-1, Shao retired Ron Stewart to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Shao, with a wink.
Jersey City goes to 31-35, Port Royal to 32-34.
