The Brinkley Belugas picked up a win at Fog Park, knocking off the Sunset District Fog, 4-3. Starting pitcher John Núñes, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Reliever De John Cleland picked up the win. His record improves to 4-1. Steve Henryson took the loss. With the win, the Belugas have a record of 33-28.
Brinkley used the timely hitting of Jim MacRach to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Belugas on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments to the Brinkley Gazette, Núñes said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
