The Texas Bronze Sox faced a tough opponent in Bloomington pitcher Clarence Jones, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Bronze Sox Park by a final score of 6-4. Jones went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Texas, at 24-37, occupies last place in the Premier AAA.
Had Breanainn Swartwood not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Swartwood hit a grand slam. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Bronze Sox.
"I know we have our doubters," said Bloomington manager Coy Knight. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
