Texas beat Bakersfield at Jerome Grounds, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Fred Proctor, who earned player of the game honors. Proctor went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-3. Manuel Torres earned the save for Texas, his 7th of the year.

Texas needed the clutch hitting of Mitsuhide Bando to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bronze Sox on top, 3-2. For the game, Bando had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Texas manager Ricardo Betancourt said afterward.
