Whales Come Up Short at Lancaster
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Lancaster Farmers and the Virginia Beach Whales, Robert Alves was the difference-maker. The Lancaster right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Alves picked up the win for Lancaster, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-3. With the win, the Farmers improved to 10-18.
Cord Hosenbeck's at-bat in the bottom of the third inning was a big one for Lancaster. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 1st and 3rd and Lancaster trailing 1-0, the third baseman reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Hosenbeck said.
