Nobles Reel Off Another Win
|
The Bakersfield Nobles beat the Texas Bronze Sox, 3-2 at Jerome Grounds, in part due to left fielder Jeff Simpson, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Bakersfield reliever James Lendell Basford picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Érik Moreau absorbed the loss. Jorge Gil closed the door for Bakersfield, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Bakersfield grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jason Graham delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 3-2 in favor of the Nobles.
"We're just feeding off each other right now," said Simpson.
The first-place Nobles now have a 8-game winning streak.
