The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids topped the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 3-0, in United States Premier League action at Atlantica. The player of the game was Northern Virginia pitcher and Bayamo, Cuba native Miguel Rubia. Brewster Warble got credit for the save for Northern Virginia. It was his 1st of the year. Northern Virginia is off to a hot start at 4-1.

Rubia, who dominated for Northern Virginia, earned the victory to move to 1-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 7. Vancouver batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Rubia said after the game.
