Silver Sox Win at Philadelphia 1776, 5-2
|
Chicago starter Forest Stanley had a strong outing against the Philadelphia 1776 BC at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. In 5 innings, Stanley surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Shang-de Fu recorded his 2nd save for Chicago.
The result might have been different for Chicago, had it not been for Bren Spillane. The shortstop produced a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Silver Sox ahead, 2-1. For the game, Spillane had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Stanley.
Losses have been few and far between for the BC so far this season. Their record drops to 4-1.
