Youth Come Back Late to Clip Blue Sox
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Youth picked up a win at Blue Sox Ballpark, knocking off the Irving Blue Sox, 5-3. Starting pitcher Dan Bell was an essential part of his team's success. Bell picked up the win for Phoenix Hotspur, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Getting the save was Sean Neely, his 5th.
Phoenix Hotspur used the timely hitting of Nathan Pruitt to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Youth on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
Bell attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
With the loss, Irving falls to 8-8.
