Humpbacks Score Late to Upend Tritons, 4-3
|
The Jersey City Tritons got a sterling performance from pitcher Paul Vereen, but the Humpbacks still prevailed, 4-3. Vereen was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The winner was William DeWitt in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kent Randall took the loss. The Humpbacks now own a record of 16-14.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Alaskan right fielder Jon Moon, facing Chris Sommer, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Humpbacks the 4-3 win.
"This place was rockin'," said Moon.
