Fog Edge Past Nobles, 8-7
|
Fog left fielder Roderick Simpson put his stamp on his team's 8-7 win over the Bakersfield Nobles. Simpson went 4-5 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for Sunset District in the contest. The win was credited to Larry Strozier in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jorge Gil took the loss. The 'W' lifts Sunset District's record to 12-14.
Sunset District took a 8-7 lead on Tony Hernández's 27th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Hernández hit in the bottom of the 11th, left Bakersfield pitcher Owen Schultz visibly frustrated.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Hernández said.
