Calgary pitcher Ángel Flores gave the Belugas all they could handle, but in the end, Brinkley left Lynx Stadium with a 4-2 win. Flores allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits over 5 innings. Brinkley is now 15-11, while Calgary is 11-15.
Augusto Ruíz, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a fastball from Ramón Costello for a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season put Brinkley in front, 2-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Ruíz said after the game.
