Patriots Stymie Charleston, Take 1-0 Win
|
The Charleston Battery wasted an inspired, 6.1-inning effort from starter Tony Alfonso, falling 1-0 to the Boston Patriots at Dunkin Donuts Park. The Battery, now 23-20, have lost 4 straight.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from center fielder Dave Broom. For the game, Broom was 3-3 with 3 singles. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 14th hit of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Broom.
