Whales Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 6-1, at Heron Field. Virginia Beach second baseman Sergio San Martín was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 1 for 2 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Virginia Beach, at 9-1, is off to a blistering start.
With Virginia Beach leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, San Martín hit a knuckle curve from Roberto Maldonado for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Whales ahead, 2-0.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake.
