The Virginia Beach Whales extended their winning streak at Virginia Beach Grounds.

The Virginia Beach Whales overcame a good performance by Ithaca left fielder Donald McJannett to knock off Ithaca, 6-5, at Virginia Beach Grounds. McJannett was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Nicolaas de Jongh, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings.

Dave Thomas was the walk-off hero for Virginia Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Whales pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

In postgame comments to the Virginia Beach Bulletin, Thomas said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
