Blue Sox Beat Ogres, 4-2
|
The Irving Blue Sox got a good effort from starter Donnie Rawling in defeating the Olympia Ogres at The Ogre Den. The final score was 4-2. Rawling, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Napoleon Vitagliano, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Irving left fielder Dan Lewis contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a curveball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Blue Sox ahead, 1-0.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Lewis said (again).
With the loss, Olympia is 2-6.
