Tritons Edge Humpbacks, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring clash between Jersey City and Alaskan, pitcher Nobuhito Tanaka was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned player of the game honors for Jersey City in the 2-1 win. Chris Sommer earned the save for Jersey City, his 1st of the year. With the win, Jersey City is 8-7.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when center fielder Jim Brown, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2036 draft, hit a triple. The Tritons went on to win.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Jersey City manager John McGrath.
