Nobles Subdue Jersey City, 5-3
|
Bakersfield Nobles starter Aldo Ottens was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Jersey City Tritons, 5-3. In 7.1 innings, Ottens surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. Pavle Simic recorded the save for Bakersfield, his 2nd of the season.
The Nobles beat the Tritons in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Juan Macíel produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Jersey City pitcher Nobuhito Tanaka, Macíel gave his team a 4-3 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Aldo was pounding the zone," said Bakersfield manager Zach King.
The Nobles, now 8-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
