Ogres Deal Fighting Imps 7-4 Setback
|
Despite a great performance by Ithaca right fielder Jimmy Robinson, the Olympia Ogres defeated the Fighting Imps by the score of 7-4 at Imps Park. Robinson went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Olympia reliever Tanosuke Ikeda, now 1-0. The loser was Doug Schmidt. The win pushes Olympia to a record of 2-2.
Olympia used the timely hitting of Meshach Ashpenaz to capture the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ogres on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Ashpenaz told the Olympia Gazette. "But we take nothing for granted."
