Highlanders Win, Park has 4 hit night
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Ottawa Nationals home opener. Luis Soto started for the home team against Patrick Nicolas for the Asheville Highlanders. The Nationals were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 7-5, Asheville. Tae-wan Park was named player of the game. Asheville starter Patrick Nicolas was credited with the win after throwing 95 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
Asheville used the timely hitting of José Ocasio to capture the win. The catcher socked a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Asheville manager William Franklin.
