Greer, Belugas Get 2-0 Win
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Port Royal Disaster home opener. Dean Cross started for the home team against Ralph Greer for the Brinkley Belugas. The Disaster were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 2-0, Brinkley. Ralph Greer was named player of the game.
Greer, a native of Bronx, New York, was dealing all game. He kept Port Royal hitters off-balance, while giving the Belugas 8 quality innings. Greer threw 95 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 5.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Greer told reporters after the game.
