Fighting Dachsunds Pick Up 12-7 Win
|
Ellenburg withstood an impressive performance by Indianapolis center fielder Roberto Vázquez to defeat the Racers, 12-7, at Speedway Field. Vázquez went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ellenburg reliever César Sandoval got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Kendarian Handy-Holly was tagged with the loss. The Fighting Dachsunds, at 49-52, sit in 8th place in the Menard's AAA.
Ellenburg used the clutch hitting of Curt Allen to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Fighting Dachsunds the lead, 7-5. For the game, Allen had 1 single and 1 double in 6 at-bats.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Allen, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
