Flyers Come Back Late to Top Red Pandas
|
The Pennsauken Flyers downed the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 7-6, at Pennsauken Park. The Flyers were led by Juan Mata, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Pennsauken reliever Willis Pittman picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. John Kraan absorbed the loss. Today's win puts Pennsauken at 53-48, while Sioux Falls falls to 48-53.
Had Preston Johnston not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Johnston hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Flyers.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Johnston. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
