Reserves Raise Rally Flag, Beat Florida, 3-1
|
Florida got a terrific performance from pitcher Pancho Covarrubias, but it wasn't enough to beat the Athletic Club KC Reserves. Athletic Club KC won the KC Reserve Stadium contest, 3-1. Covarrubias was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Florida has now lost 4 consecutive games.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when left fielder Jason Ward, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AAA in extra base hits with 41, hit a single. The Reserves went on to win.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Athletic Club KC manager Elliot Rembert.
