The Tortolita Drummers topped the Hamilton Coyotes, 7-1, in M3L Triple A action at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. The player of the game was Tortolita pitcher and Ft. Worth, Texas native Scott Thompson. In 7 innings, Thompson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Drummers, at 76-22, have a comfortable 14½-game lead in their division.
It could have been a different outcome for Tortolita, had it not been for Armando Chamú, the 34-year old catcher . Chamú contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Tortolita up, 3-1.
Thompson said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
