Racers Win at Houston, 4-1
|
The Indianapolis Racers picked up a win at Houston Park, knocking off the Houston BC, 4-1. Starting pitcher Stephen Palmer, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 7 innings, Palmer surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Mark Erwin was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Indianapolis used the timely hitting of León Castillo to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Racers ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was an important one.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Palmer.
Today's win puts Indianapolis at 50-41, while Houston falls to 45-46.
