The Tortolita Drummers eked out a 4-3 win versus the Indianapolis Racers at Speedway Field. Nobody did more than catcher Blythe Plumpley, who captured player of the game honors. Gil Brown picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-0. Bob Shepard was tagged with the loss. Scott Thompson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 7 save opportunities.
Tortolita relied on the hitting of Armando Chamú to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Drummers on top, 2-0. For the game, Chamú had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Indianapolis manager Emílio Sáenz.
Tortolita now has a 3-game win streak.
