Blythe Plumpley left his imprint on the 4-3 Tortolita win against the Milton Dogfish Head. Plumpley went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Dan Crowder got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Scott Thompson closed the door for Tortolita, picking up his 4th save of the year.
Tsuneari Hirano went 1 for 3 with a double for Tortolita. The 24-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ricky O'Toole. It was his 56th RBI of the season.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Milton manager Craig Sunter.
The first-place Drummers have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
