BC Lose to Oaks, 6-2
|
Oakland starter Kevin Nogilny had a strong outing against the Philadelphia 1776 BC at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 6-2 win. Nogilny, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Mal Houser recorded the save for Oakland, his 1st of the season.
Oakland used the clutch hitting of Colin O'Connell to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Oaks ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
O'Connell told the Oakland Citizen: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
Today's win puts Oakland at 12-24, while Philadelphia 1776 falls to 16-20.
