Rainbow Mermaids Roll Over Grey Wolves, 10-4
|
Zahid Kashani was instrumental in his team's 10-4 triumph over the Vancouver Grey Wolves. The first baseman went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Ricardo García got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 6.2 innings. The Rainbow Mermaids, now 3-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
Kashani contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Northern Virginia in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Kashani took a fastball from Sjoerd Reynoud and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Rainbow Mermaids to leap in front, 3-1.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Kashani. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
