Bailey Excels, But Fighting Dachsunds Win
|
Coyote Wildlife Refuge was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds and the Hamilton Coyotes.
The inspired effort of Hamilton designated hitter Bartholomew Bailey was not enough to prevent a 3-2 loss to the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds. Bailey belted 2 home runs. Arturo Mesa, the winner, improved to 7-7. He held Hamilton to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts.
It could have been a different outcome for Ellenburg, had it not been for Al Grant, the 29-year old catcher . Grant contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Ellenburg up, 3-2.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Hamilton manager Ken Beach.
Ellenburg is 39-43 and Hamilton, with the loss, 26-56.
