Behind a solid performance from center fielder Javier Vázquez, the Sioux Falls Red Pandas defeated the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 11-5. Vázquez went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Red Pandas. Sioux Falls reliever Octávio Valdéz picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Paul Zucarelli was collared with the loss. The Red Pandas raised their record to 33-45.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Qi-chao Di came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Ellenburg pitcher Paul Zucarelli, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a bases-clearing triple. It was a game-changer, putting Sioux Falls on top, 8-5.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Vázquez told the Sioux Falls Gazette.
