Drummers Get Close Win Over Fighting Dachsunds
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds got a superb performance from pitcher Harry Fuller. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Tortolita. The Drummers won the game, 9-8. In spite of the loss, Fuller was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Tortolita reliever Gil Brown picked up the win to move to 1-0. Rafael García suffered the loss. The Drummers improved to a lofty 59-15.
Tortolita needed the clutch hitting of Kolby Hay to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Drummers on top, 9-7. For the game, Hay had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We came out aggressive," said Drummers manager Wilson Alvarado. "We came out swinging the bats."
