Drummers Take Down Dogfish Head, 7-2
|
Getting a good performance from first baseman Qwuntrezz Knight, the Tortolita Drummers defeated the Milton Dogfish Head, 7-2. Knight was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Drummers. Reliever Robbie Baxter picked up the win. His record improves to 4-1. Rusty Swanson took the loss. Tortolita goes to 56-14. The win puts them 11½ games up in their division.
Askari bin Idris dealt the Dogfish Head a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Tortolita leading 1-0, bin Idris, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AAA in runs scored with 61, hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," bin Idris said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
