Reserves Take Nail-Biter Over Red Pandas
|
The Athletic Club KC Reserves wiggled past the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 3-2, at KC Reserve Stadium. Athletic Club KC pitcher Stanley Yelnats earned player of the game honors. Reliever Ismael Calderón picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. John Kraan took the loss. The Red Pandas, now 26-41, have lost 4 in a row.
Athletic Club KC won the game in the bottom of the 14th inning. With two outs and John Kraan on the mound for Sioux Falls, left fielder Jason Ward hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Reserves fans to their feet.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Athletic Club KC manager Elliot Rembert said.
