Smith, Timber Hawks Clobber Red Pandas
|
Augusta first baseman Adam Smith was instrumental in his team's 10-0 win over the Sioux Falls Red Pandas. Smith, who is tied for 4th in the 3AAA in extra base hits with 28, went 3-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Timber Hawks. Carlos Medina, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. The Timber Hawks now have a mark of 31-34.
Ken Gill had a big 2-run single for the Timber Hawks in the bottom of the third inning. With Augusta leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Geoff Stackhouse and stroked the single to left. It was his 27th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Timber Hawks ahead, 4-0.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Smith said. "We did a good job of that today."
